Chakara (also spelt Chaakara) is a Malayalam word used to describe a peculiar marine phenomenon in which a large number of fish and prawns throng together during a particular season as a result of mud bank formations. This rare phenomenon is observed only along the coastal waters of the Indian state of Kerala, especially around the coast of Purakkad[1] and in South America, where it has proved to be a boon for the local fisherfolk.

Chris Pfeiffer is professional rider and has performed in hundreds of shows internationaly. Innovative is one way to describe him. Chris relentlessly pushes his limits with new tricks, projects and Off road races that set the pulse for Extreme Riding. Since 2000 he has intensively trained on big street bikes. Street bikes have become a growing part of his shows, the speed of the street bike has once again pushed his limits. Only three years later in 2003, Chris reached the high point of his career so far as he was crowned the Stunt Riding World Champion in Bechyne, Czech in front of 15.000 cheering fans and six enthusiastic judges, that selected him unanimously as first place.
By January 1, 2006, Chris changes onto the BMW F800s and success immediately continues: After no more than 2 months of practice on the new bike, Chris wins the most prestigeous US Streetbike Freestyle Competition, the legendary "Stuntwars" in Florida and right after that, he wins all 3 rounds of the European Stuntriding Championships. The beat goes on: In February 2007, CP scores the Indoor World Championship title in Streetbike-Freestyle

The Bharani Festival, which falls in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March/ April) attracts the largest congregation of 'Velichappadu' (Oracles), including women from different parts of the State.

Once in a trance, these Oracles perform a frenzied dance, repeatedly slashing their foreheads with curved swords. As a supreme symbol of their devotion, they make a sacrificial offering of their own blood to the deity.

Theyyam is one of the most outstanding ancient dance form of North Kerala. There are so many “Bagavathy Kavus“ and “Thraravadu“ in Ancharakandy and nearby villages where Theyyam is performed . The word 'Theyyam' originated from 'Daivam' means nothing but God. The Theyyam or Kolam (a form or shape), represents a mythological, divine or heroic character. The bizarre head dresses, costumes and body painting and trance like performances are very extraordinary. Each one has a distinguishing headgear and costume made out of natural materials like coconut leaves and bark. Musical accompaniments are chenda, elathalam and kuzhal (horn).

THOLPAVA KOOTH, is considered an ancient ritualistic Temple art form dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi, considered and worshipped as Mother Goddess by the Hindu community in Kerala. Tholpava Koothu is performed in a specially built theatre called Koothu Maadom. Stories from Hindu Epic like Ramayana are played in this.

Tholpava Koothu is a peculiar ritualistic art form that is traditionally performed at the specially constructed theatre called Koothu Madam in front of Bhagavati temples during the month of January to May.

The annual fair of the St. Andrews Forane Chuch at Arthunkal near Alappuzha is held in the month of January. This ten-day festival held in the name of St. Sebastian is attended by thousands of devotees from all parts of the State.

They express their thankfulness by crawling on their knees from the nearby beach to the church. On the last day, a grand religious procession is taken out from the church to the nearby beach.
